TEAM
We enjoy coding and decoding until our eyes glaze over. We rest. Then we do it again.
We search—and don't stop—until we find images and colors that match our client's identity and needs.
We read and expound on new website technologies until we hear ourselves talking about them in our dreams.
So, who are we?
Chris Yap: Web Designer | Web Developer
Chris was born in Toronto, Canada, but at age three ran for the southern border, muttering something about "these crazy Canucks, eh" under his infantile breath. Today he traitorously calls the San Francisco Bay Area "home." He is craggy and well-worn, having weathered the dot-com boom and bust from the heady days of Razor scooters and dot-com logo blinky toys, to the sobering era of pink slip parties, to the present day. Having inherited both his father's love of the arts and his mother's laser-focused attention on the nitty-gritty, Chris spends his time obsessing over design and electronic music, while harboring strong fetishes for indie rock, jazz, classical music, good books, tasty food, subversive t-shirts, beach houses, building the ultimate home theater, traveling the world, and drawing meaningful comparisons between human beings and various cute animals. Jessica Yazbek: Web Developer | Web Designer
Having spoken her first sentence at the tender age of 6 months, Jessica now commands attention, oohs, and ahhs with her mastery of PHP, Javascript, CSS and HTML. While she will spend hours obsessively coding websites (with special features that tend to knock our clients' socks off), she'll jump at the chance to camp, go to a party, or catch that unusual streak of light across the sky, through a cloud, or bouncing off a subway wall with her camera. Her day-to-day activities include running her internet radio station, listening to breakcore, dreaming up pranks to play on people, and being a recovering World of Warcraft addict.
Dave Marwick: Database & Software Engineer
After weathering the turn of the millenium as a Fixed Income financial
software engineer, Dave took a sideways leap into online applications.
For over five years he has produced top quality Perl, SQL, PHP and
database designs with hints of Java and an HTML aftertaste. Despite
keeping a desk that resembles a feral magpie swap meet, Dave takes pride
in clean code and low bug counts. When momentarily away from the
computer he has a taste for warehouses, leafy greens and Drum & Bass vinyl.
Sumi Wong-Yap: Project Manager & Editor
Having
spearheaded and managed the launch of complex websites over long periods, Sumi has a talent for composing lists, building timetables, and helping clients meet project milestones within those timetables. Sumi also has extensive experience fiddling with words for nonprofits, online news outlets, high-tech and
finance publications, and environmental sustainability websites. In her spare time, Sumi counsels senior citizens, supports under-the-radar artists, and dreams about trotting the globe.
Michael Paine: Network Plumber | Software Engineer
Since his decades of berserking youth and enduring belief in all things binary,
Michael has animately found time to help jump-start many technology ventures with
such trademarks as: code-blasting, denial of bitrot, softrare/hardrare collector,
fuzzy "brainos" extrodinare, and a multitude of other exotic axioms. The conventional
wisdom states that prisoners of any kind pass a "point of no return", after which
a return to normal life is impossible. Michael passed this point years ago,
which as an aside has had the unexpected side-benefit of excellent IT services,
advanced Microsoft-related development and VOIP/Speech/Unified-Messaging expertise for our customers.
